  • Hope probably was a little in love with Vanille between the end of FFXIII and the beginning of FFXIII-2. It was less in love with Vanille as it was in love with the idea of her and what she represented and what he just couldn't have as a combination of his own natural reticence and his father's political position. He loved all the party, but they weren't as accessible to a lonely sixteen year old boy as Vanille was. He eventually fell out of love with her but still loves her like the rest of the party.
  • He does genuinely love his job. Even notwithstanding the whole part where he can use it to save his loved ones (which is a big bloody draw to him), Hope just wants to understand the world he lives in and how it works. He is a natural scientist, it just gets lost a lot in his desire to save his loved ones.
  • Hope is aware that Alyssa loves him. He thinks she should find someone who can give her what she needs, because he is not that person.
  • He never wrote to Elida outside of business. She and he went on one lunch date to organise her appearance at the opening, but they were so different now that they didn't have anything to talk about. He hasn't spoken to Kai at all.
  • I have no clue what sexuality Hope is, other than "extremely repressed". I don't think it matters, because Hope is so tangled up that it won't ever be untangled in camp.
  • He doesn't change his outfit in camp because he doesn't have one to change into. In canon, his uniform is a kind of armour. It tends to work too well, with people just seeing the Director and not Hope.
  • He feels personally responsible for the fate of the human race.
  • He has never gotten lost in Academia. This just adds to the mystery of The Director.
  • Hope does remember Alyssa. He started to get really disturbed when no-one else does, but has learned to keep his mouth shut about it in case they think he's nuts.
  • It's a requirement in Academia 400AF for everyone to be tested for magic potential and be trained in its use. Hope was tested and scored the highest they'd ever seen. He passes it off as being an ex-l'Cie and that it's really not a big deal. This does nothing to diminish the sheer worship the city gives him.
  • On that note, he finds the devotion creepy as hell, and insists that he's just Hope or Mister Estheim if they must be formal. He is a little dismayed at how no-one listens to him.
  • He lives alone. He wanted to have a pet cat or something, but there's no pet animals in Academia; they're all virtual. He doesn't really like the virtual pets, as they're not the same thing.
  • He does not have a duplicate AI. He finds the idea unsettling.
  • Hope's dreams are pretty messed up. He remembers some of the altered timelines in his dreams. He dreams of his deaths a lot, which unsettle him when he's awake. They feel so real. This is why he doesn't sleep that much ... well that and he's so stressed he wakes up after a few hours anyway.

YOU TELL ME THINGS. I COULD KEEP AT THIS ALL DAY.
