So there's a translation for the epilogue novella chapters about Hope and now I know what happened to him between Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns!

I don't know how the hell he's sane in the epilogue, to be honest.

Lightning thinks that Mog and Hope are similar in that they were both physically vulnerable people who were determined to survive despite the odds (Ch2)
Hope was responsible for defence and support when they fought (Ch2)
Hope hit his growth spurt at about 15 and grew a lot in a short space of time (11 inches in a year)
[ONE DAY THE HOPE CHAPTER WILL BE TRANSLATED ;;]

After the Purge, Hope never did reclaim his childhood and ever since the Fall, he's always been far too mature for his age (Ch3)
He also tries to fix up Snow and Serah and stop Snow basically hurting Serah by his refusal to marry her until everything was perfect (Ch3)
Hope's father got to see the whole hunt for the l'Cies by way of video, which came as a surprise to him how brutal it was because Hope had deliberately underplayed how bad it was and flat out didn't talk about the most disturbing parts. That video was then aired to the entire world to see while Rygdea overthrew the government (Ch4)
Hope asked for a list of the casualties caused by the l'Cies and studied all the names (Ch4)
After the events of FFXIII Hope helped out the Cavalry with evacuation and settlement efforts until his father came to collect him, even to the point of being lent one of their uniforms so that he could blend in.
Hope's father was an economist and a researcher before he ended up in charge, and when Hope was little he wanted to be just like him. (Ch4)
The Academy was started in part so that Hope, who would be too bright for his school anyway, could have somewhere where they would nurture his intellect and encourage his critical thinking (Ch4)

Sooo I have 1,030 comments for Hope and I think that's time for a meme.

[Earlier this morning a tiny teenaged boy went out to explore ruins in camp.

Some time later, said tiny teenager reappears at the outskirts of camp, eleven inches taller, thirteen years older and very confused.]

Somehow, I think I'm lost.

Age: 27 (Chronologically 1,014, though he was asleep for 500 of those years.)
Height: 5'11"
Weight: Lanky dude weight.
Medical Info: When he was a kid he was hospitalised with a high fever, but that's really about it.
Eyes: Light green
Hair: Grey-white
Physical traits: Icons show him as he is: a white haired, green eyed young man wearing a uniform and a bunch of pouches attached to belts. Sadly he does not wear the Prada clothes, because those are hilarious.
What's Okay To Mention Around Him/Her: Anything other than he is fictional is cool. Hope will use his discretion to decide whether your character is telling the truth.

Notes for the Psychics/Magically or Spiritually sensitive: As Hope is a Final Fantasy main character this could take a while.

Souls in the FFXIII verse are basically created from the goddess Etro's blood, and only humans have one, so whatever a goddess' blood looks like, that's what his soul looks like!
Has been reincarnated numerous times, but not as Hope Estheim but instead as someone with his traits. He doesn't remember any of his preincarnations.
Hope has a telepathic connection with his eidolon, Alexander, and that connection is divine in nature.
He is a living distortion in space-time because the goddess Etro touched him out of pity, which was pretty much the worst thing she could have done.
There is 169 years of amnesia that is artificially imposed on him. If your character can get through that, it's basically 169 years of torture by another god, Bhunivelze.
On his left wrist (but invisible to the naked eye) is some kind of brand which is also divine in nature but an entirely different being to Etro and Bhunivelze.
Hope is a notably good person, who is willing to sacrifice everything he is for the good of the world. This is not always a good thing.
Deicide tends to follow the Final Fantasy XIII cast. Pretty sure the only god they didn't kill was one that was already dead long before they were born.

Can I shapeshift/bodyswap/spit at/step on/etc?: Yes/Yes/Yes/Yes. Hope would take shapeshifting and bodyswapping in stride, though people attacking him may cause him to evade it, as he's still got that sixth sense for immediate danger.

Hugging/kissing/other non-violent physical contact: Sure, though Hope is profoundly uncomfortable when people do that. I on the other hand don't mind at all!

Maim/Murder/Death: No, that would cause even more hilariously awkward timeline shenanigans that I haven't already caused by his being in camp as it is.

Cooking: Yes! If you can make it over a fire, Hope actually thinks it's pretty great.
